Do you feel the internet has made people less aware of the real world ?

I’m asking because they’re saying that internet has changed the way the world thinks and acts. like we don’t play outside like before or really interact in the real world even going out to events we have to be on our phones looking at the internet. What do you ladies feel about the internet? Do you feel it has changed the way a lot of us act and think ?

I see this with my nieces, who are 14 and almost 16. their dad got them smart phones and ever since they are glued to them, less engaged in what’s going on in the real world and completely addicted. 
we finally put our feet down and made the rule they aren’t allowed on their phones during dinner and during family activities, and during important things. 
for something that has connected so many of us, I think it has disconnected us from our surroundings a bit.

No to your header question, the internet has made us hyperaware of the real world. It’s information overload. 
Yes, it has changed the way we act and think. In some way’s for the better and in some way’s not.

I'm certain its changed the way people think. If someone is straight up addicted to being online or on their phones, then yeah there are some negative effects of that.
However, I have learned a LOT about the world on the internet. I've heard points of views that I probably never would have heard in my small community, I've been able to form well rounded opinions, learn about things I wouldn't have been able to learn about otherwise,  I mean it's got its perks. 
That being said, I didnt grow up with cell phones and internet. I grew up playing outside till the sun went down, socializing with kids from the community,  going out and doing things that maybe the younger gen doesn't do, and that probably makes a difference for me.

I wouldn't say the internet has done this. I'd say tablets and phones. The internet was around for years before it became available in your pocket. Now shit is changing because phones do everything from looking up the date and time, to playing music or movies. I don't necessarily believe everyone who is on their phone in public is on the internet, most of them are texting, or taking pictures or videos, hell, I've been sitting in the car outside of a store typing up a grocery list.🤷‍♀️

I said no because I always see kids playing outside. I chalked it up to demographics, depending on the side of town I’m on. 
We are exposed to a lot more, which in my opinion, is a great thing. People can see that there is a world outside of their personal bubble.

With the internet we are always connected, I know where my husband and other families are and safe. 
It’s easier to stay up to date with new or breaking stories. We have information at our finger tips (which my teacher said would never happen. Jokes on you Mrs. Welles)

I think it makes us more aware of the world. We can connect with people all over the world and get news faster. You have endless options for learning new things. Of course with all this good, comes some bad.. but I am thankful for advances in technology that allow me these privileges.

No. It makes us a lot more aware of the world. The real world doesn’t consist of just playing outside, although I always see children playing outside in my neighborhood. We are now able to hear about world news, different viewpoints, keep up with distant family/friends easier than ever
