What can i expect for the group b strep test?

Getting it done tomorrow, how do they do it? Like with one of those clamp things? Im 35 weeks, will they check for dilation and effacement too? I know it varies by doctor but im just curious what other's had done.

My dr. Just swabbed quickly. There was a small pinch of pressure, but he just quickly wiped the bottom of the vagina and it was done. No pain, clamps, or other exam.

They gave me a giant qtip and told me to swab myself 😂

My doc handed me mine a few days ago and let me do it myself. It’s just one quick stick up the vagina (2cm) and one quick stick up the anus (1cm) and you’re done. V easy to just do yourself. I was relieved here in Toronto that’s the way we do it!

Had mine done today. Quick swan with a large qtip and done. My doctor also went ahead and did a cervical check. No major discomfort

They might check you since they’re already going to be in the area for the swab. Mine is doing it at my next appointment at 36w2d. And then won’t check me again unless I’m having issues or in active labor.

I got the GBS test at 36w. They will swan your vagina as well as your anus at the same time. They did so a cervical check as well.
