1st sonogram? Hopefully

I have my first appointment with my doctor next week. I’ll be 6w6d. 1st pregnancy. 
Should I expect a sonogram to be done? Has anyone requested one? 
I would love to have one done as we plan on telling our parents and siblings over the holidays.

My doctor doesn’t do them until 12 weeks. I have heard if you’re not exactly sure of your last test, they will do a viability ultrasound. Of course I was told this after I already told my doctor I knew all my dates 🙄 Lol

It depends on your particular doctor. If you're over 35 they may order one. Also if you have any pain localized on one side or the other they will do one to make sure it's not ectopic. Also, if you don't know when you may have gotten pregnant they will do a quick ultrasound for dating.

I have my first OB appt next Friday, I'll be just under 8 weeks. I was confirmed at my primary care doctor so don't need to re-do that. We're doing blood/urine tests, going over medical history, and we're doing an ultrasound. It just depends on the doctor I guess. I would ask, because they may do it earlier than others.

My doc wouldn't it was more of a prenatal appointment, to be sure your pregnant and blood work. I got one at 9 weeks, but I had requested it because I had surgery along with a catscan and xrays. so i wanted to make sure all was well.

My clinic doesn't even have sonogram equipment. 
I only get the Doppler at my ob appointments.
