I think it can say something about what your problem is exactly and how things might continue. On my test only the fasting number was too high, and only by one point. I was inclined to call them crazy for worrying so much about that one point, but now that I have had to monitor my values for a few weeks that’s exactly the pattern I see, too: The fasting value remains at the threshold or slightly over while I am literally fine and way below the values after every single meal. I actually manage to have lower values an hour after a meal than I do fasting. Because the fasting number is the one that’s really hard and sometimes impossible to control with your diet I will probably have to start insulin now, but only at night for the fasting period. So for me at least the test results were quite indicative of where my problem was, i.e. fasting, and also where it was not, i.e. after consuming glucose. And it was also in a way indicative of the numbers I am getting, only ever elevated by few points, but unfortunately that’s still over.
GTT results numbers...do the actual numbers really matter?
So, basically, I am sure I failed...but since only one number is high and one is borderline, will that make a difference down the road? Or is it basically, I failed, so I failed regardless of how much? Do you think it can be diet controlled, with the numbers I have or will I need medication? I will ask my doctor this tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone has any insight. I took the two hour fasting test. Fasting level was 94, one hour after the drink it was 193, two hours it was 115.
