My late term premie (born at 36 weeks and 5 days) sleeps all the time. Is this normal?

My baby girl (now 5 days old) sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. She’s awake more at night, for a few moments at a time. Is this normal or should I be trying to keep her awake more? Thanks!!

Definitely let her sleep :) I had a 30 weeker and up until he was about 3 weeks adjusted he would sleep for about 17-22 hours a day. It was crazy. But his doctor said definitely let them sleep as it’s what their body needs to develop fully. Remember that she should still be in your tummy.

Unless you’re told to wake to feed, let her sleep and enjoy some rest.
