Travel for Christmas or not?

My boys will be 13 weeks old (9 adjusted) and my family wants us to come have lunch with my grandparents (they are in their 80’s) 3 hours away from where we live. Would y’all travel that far or would it be crazy? It would be a day trip. Not staying overnight. I feel selfish for not wanting to but also feel obligated because my grandparents are up there in age and would be over the moon if we went. So hard to decide!

I would do it to see my family. The baby at that age will probably sleep the whole car ride and back. And also probably sleep a lot throughout the day. I’m sure Your grandparents would be so happy and excited if you were to go.

I would do it. I’m all about experiences and I don’t believe having twins is an excuse to not do things. Ya only live once I say 🙌🙃. My husband is always wanting to skip out on things because “it will be too hard with the babies”. And I just say well then we won’t ever do anything if it’s too hard it will be an experience that we can all look back in. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible 🤷🏻‍♀️😏👌

I say there is no right or wrong here. It makes sense if you want to see family but certainly understandable you wouldn’t want to be in the car for 6+ hours plus all the time chatting and just plain not being at home.

If my babies were good sleepers and do well in car rides then I wouldn’t mind making the trip. If they’re fussy babies, absolutely not

I drove at least once a week 2 hours to go see my dad. Then 2 hours back. They slept most of the journey! The truth is that my dad lives in a farm and the babies were so chill there!! They seemed to love to sleep under a tree with the summer breeze and the dogs taking care of them.
I’m a schedule nazi, I always put it above everything and my babies comfort. But sometimes, you need to do what you need to do and the babies will adapt. I hope you have your grandparents for many more years, but going for Xmas sounds like a very good reason to go through the ordeal. Give them that joy ♥️

I would. My daughter was 2 months when we started to travel. At the time our family lived 3 and a half hours away. It wasn't bad plus everyone was super happy to see her!

I wouldn’t do it. That’s six hours driving in one day, not including making stops because you shouldn’t leave small babies in a capsule for that long. Maybe they could come to you and stay over a weekend so it’s not so much travelling at once, but at 80 it’s still possible to make the car trip if there’s no major health issues. My grandmother still went on holiday with us overseas at that age.

I probably wouldn’t to be honest. My babies are the same age, and we haven’t driven more than half an hour with them so far. At Christmas we have to drive about 45 mins to see family and I’m even a bit worried about that! They still seem so small in their car seats and I don’t feel all that comfortable driving long distances with them yet.
