Urinary tract infections

I've had two UTI's and I believe I'm now on my third. I know that once you've got one, you're susceptible to getting them the rest of your life. The first one was about a year and a half ago. The second was only about a month ago. And now I think I have another one. Is it normal for them to be that close together? And is there someway I can keep from getting them? Or even just make them not as uncomfortable?
