Do you like receiving physical gifts? Whether it be for the holidays or your birthday.

I feel like every year more and more people ask for money or gift cards, no one ever wants that personal touch anymore. Why do you all think that is?

When people try to buy gifts for everyone, we end up with a lot of clutter and it seems a bit wasteful. I'd rather just spend time together and enjoy a good meal!
Also, a lot of times adult gift exchanges end up being a gift card exchanges and it's kind of like, what's the point? Rather than exchanging a $25 gift card for a $25 gift card, we could have kept our money, skip the plastic waste and been at the same spot!
I like doing gifts for kids...much more fun. I also like getting gifts for my husband since it's an opportunity to throw out the normal rules and treat ourselves. Beyond that we just do a name drawing with the adults in my family.

What of I don't like to receive gifts at all?  In my opinion, gifts come with expectations, ie. relationships, reciprocation, and more.  Case and point, ever exchange christmad gifts and feel bad cause they spent so much on you and you didn't for them?
Wanna get me a gift?  Spend time with me.  Concert tickets, amusement parks, food, movies, those are my idea of gifts.

This year I’ve asked for money because I’d like to get more done on my sleeve in remembrance of my grandma. If someone would rather give me an actual present, I just say fluffy socks or something that I’m in need of. I think I’m quite hard to buy for because I don’t really like a lot of stuff, most people normally just get me bubble baths or shower gels to be honest because they know I appreciate them😂😂

I LOVE gift cards. I'd appreciate that more than a physical gift personally. I don't think that it's lacking a personal touch at all. Gifts aren't mandatory so I'm happy to get whatever, more so when it's a gift card and I can buy what I want.
