The step mother

My fiancé’s grandmother called him around 10 am in the morning. She called because she wanted to stop by and say hello to us. Problem is, we work grave yard shift & we had just gone to bed (we work 7pm-7am) she actually woke him up when she called. He picked up the phone & he told her he was sorry but if she could come by another time because we’re asleep (we are actually asleep naked as he’s speaking to her) she says it was fine and then hung up. 2pm comes around & his mother calls. She’s upset & yells at him for not allowing his grand mother (his moms, mother) to come over. He explained to her that we just got home from work & we were knocked out tired & exhausted so we couldn’t at that time. His mother went on & on about how he doesn’t put his family first & how he should have just woken up & spent time with her, etc. they ended the convo & hung up. I feel bad about this but I can’t help if I’m extremely exhausted. That plus the house was a mess. I cleaned the house later that day so if she wanted to come over that day or the next she could. Are we in the wrong or was his mother crossing the line?
