Hypothyroidism and TTC

Hey ladies! I’m hoping to find some information about starting treatment for hypothyroidism while trying to get pregnant (and hopefully some success stories!)

I recently went to the doctor for my annual physical, and just found out that I might have hypothyroidism (my TSH was nearly 4). My doctor has prescribed a low dose of Synthroid to lower my levels because my husband and I are TTC.

Now for a little backstory; I’ve gotten pregnant twice this year, but both resulted in miscarriages (12 weeks, then 8 weeks). We have been diligently trying for our rainbow baby since June with no luck. My doctor said my thyroid issues may have caused our previous losses or could be a result of the miscarriages.

I’ve been researching hypothyroidism and Synthroid, and I’m getting mixed info about moving forward TTC. Has anyone suffered recurrent miscarriages or struggled become pregnant, but had a successful pregnancy after beginning medication? If yes, how long did it take to lower your levels or ultimately become pregnant?

Any and all advice is welcome and very appreciated!

Hey! So I have Hashimoto hypothyroidism! I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since I was 8 and now I’m almost 20. My dosage of synthroid have been changed so many times! I am now taking 150 mg every morning. I went to see my doctor for my annual blood test to see how things were going and I asked him questions about conceiving. I was so worried about getting pregnant and having miscarriages because that’s what google said. My doctor said as long as I’m on the right medication and my levels are fine and in normal range, I shouldn’t have a problem getting pregnant and I shouldn’t miscarry. It may take you a couple of times to get your dosage right, it took me 5 years to get the right dosage! I wish the best of luck on your ttc journey 💕

I have hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Qas diagnosed after my son, and the dr was pissed so many missed it since I first showed signs of it 2 years prior based on my labs. Any ways my levels would go all the up to high 30s and back down below a 1. (Hashi) so I've been on synthroid for 5 years and I have had a second child since no issues and we just started trying for a 3rd. My endocrinologist had always said you want to be a 2 or less when ttc and its important to have your levels tested every so often

I was put on synthroid got pregnant after my tsh level got to 1.5, along with using progesterone. I continued synthroid throughtout my pregnancy, had my dose adjusted twice. I now have a happy healthy 18 month old.
