Piercing ears for baby girl. Opinions?

I am torn between piercing my baby girl’s ears when she’s around 6 months old or waiting until she’s old enough and asks. In my culture it is common to pierce baby girls ears. 
What are your opinions on this?

I personally wouldnt do it that young. Its another thing to worry about loosing or getting infected

I had mine done when I was almost 2, and I love wearing earrings. Piercings are really a matter of vanity, so there’s no NEED to get them done, but I’m glad it was done early on, so I couldn’t remember being distraught over it. Culturally, girls have their ears pierced early, so I was never the odd one out of the kids we would hang out with. And while I never touched them until I was 9 years old, you don’t have to wear them if you don’t want. If they’re pierced, who says you have to show it off if you don’t want to. Take out the earrings and look plain.

Most reputable shops won’t pierce a baby.  There’s a risk that if we do it that early, the body will reject metals later in life (think car accidents that result in bones needing metal pins to repair a bad bone break).  I think studied say to wait until 2 or something like that?

Absolutely not. That is not a decision you make & is also dangerous because they can ingest the piercing

I think it’s all up to you in the long run. My husband and I have 4 daughters and we wait for them to ask, but that’s just our personal preference. My oldest got hers pierced at 4 and my second is 4 now and still wants nothing to do with it. So I think all at yours and your hubby discretion and what you believe is best for you little gal 😊

I just had my fourth daughter, she is three months old now and is getting them pierced next weekend. The other three all got them pierced at three months as well. I know this is always a controversial question but in our family it’s never been an issue & the older girls are glad they had it done when they were little.

My mom did me and both my sisters ears when we were two months old. Neither me or my sisters ever had a problem and nothing got infected. My sister had my nieces done when she was 6 months old, never had any problems or infections (she's almost 4 now) and we had our oldests done when she was 11 months old, but because of the earrings I chose (crowns  instead of the recommended round ones) they got stuck on her shirt and fell out after a day. I always meant to get them done again, but she's 4 now and I just haven't gotten around to it. I don't wear earrings anymore though, so it's not a really big deal to me.

I'd get it over with when she is tiny tiny. I waited till my daughter was two and they got infected because she would mess with them or her hair would get wrapped up in them. We had to take them out.

I took my daughter when she turned 3 months old to a certified place with nurses that specializes on ear piercings it was better than I thought she cried for a few seconds it was so fast and I am glad I did it then because she was too small to mess with them and she didn’t fuss at all when I cleaned them. She looks beautiful with her tiny earrings. I struggled with deciding to wait or do it and I am sure when my daughter grows up she will be happy she doesn’t remember getting them done :). Where ever you decide just make sure it’s the best place you can take her that is the key.
