Premature rupture at 32 weeks
So I’m writing this post from a hospital bed in labor and delivery. Friday evening, the 21st, I called my OB at my sisters suggestion because I seemed to be leaking some sort of fluid. I had noticed 2-3 days prior that there were small quarter sized wet spots occasionally when I stood and assumed the baby was pressing on my bladder. However the leaking was much heavier Friday and I used a pad, then realized the fluid was not urine and more of a watery consistency. The nurse at my doctors office said that watery discharge can be normal and if it was a gush or trickled down my leg then I should go to the hospital. It never got that bad, but this being my first pregnancy and because I googled what it could be.. I panicked and went. They did a ph test, 3 to be exact, and sure enough.. I was leaking amniotic fluid. So here I sit, 2 days later and I’m on steroids for little guys lung development, antibiotics and just finished magnesium sulfate to prevent brain bled and preterm labor (from what I understand.) my doc is on vacation but the on call OB said that when a leak like this occurs, they typically try to make it to 34 weeks and then deliver, that anything past that is increasing the risk of infection. I’m 32 weeks and 4 days.
So my question is.... I have not leaked since being admitted and my ultrasounds show that my fluid levels are still on the high side. Has anyone had a rupture in their membrane heal itself? They’re going to do more tests probably tomorrow to see if there is still amniotic fluid in my vagina and I’m wondering if I could get lucky and have a negative test? Has this ever happened?
