Should babies sleep with a blanket?

Future mom need advice! My husband and I disagree on how should our baby (due in April) sleep at night. 
He has two previous kids (13 and 9) and he says that he had both of them sleep with a regular blanket in their crib, like regular kids or adults. 
This is my first baby and from what I have read everywhere and from my mom’s advice, the baby should only sleep in a sleep sack or wearable blanket. 
What is the right thing to do?

No blanket. Period. If he is worried about baby being cold, they have sleep sacs you can use! I actually give my 18 month old a blanket and she never uses it, she moves too much. A sleep sac will keep baby warm all night! 😁

Not have a blanket or stuff toys in it. I have a 9 year old too and didn’t have one for him. I also didn’t when I was a baby 28 years ago. All because his oldest 2 did fine with it doesn’t mean it’s worth the risk of having the new one do fine or die. Pretty big risk to take to me 🤷‍♀️ I’d explain that to him. Plus there is no need for one.

Swaddles or pjs with onesie underneath depending on how cold it is. I ordered the Love to Dream Swaddle Up for this next baby.

It’s ok to swaddle the baby with a swaddle blanket but no other blankets, toys or bumpers in the crib for at least the first year. Discontinue the swaddle when baby starts rolling. ☺️

Just to add on about swaddles- arms in or out need to be stopped at 8weeks old!

We started with a regular blanket tucked under the mattress on 3 sides so the baby cannot slip under it. That’s what they did in the hospital and afterwards our baby nurse at home did the same. After a couple of weeks we switched to a wearable blanket.

No blankets. They have wearable blankets you can buy that are basically fleece zip ups that are super nice. When I was working at a day care we used until babies started standing up. You can get different colors and designs.

Its not recommended to have blankets or toys in with a sleeping baby though I had to with my first because she literally wouldn't sleep without one 2 years later she still won't sleep without one do what your comfortable with
