I hate my sexuality

I am a lesbian and I guess it’s not really being a lesbian I hate, I love women and I don’t want to change that. Where I live just makes it hard, I live in the Bible Belt so there is very very few lesbians and it’s really bad to be gay where I live people look down on you. It’s just tough. I just wanted to vent

I relate so much to what you’re saying. I grew up in a very conservative Christian setting and the internalized homophobia is a real thing. It has taken me a long long time to become happy with who I am. I’m sorry you are living in a place that does not support you. Do you have a support system in place for yourself? If you don’t mind my asking, would you consider yourself a Christian/a person of some kind of faith? The hardest part for me was reconciling my faith with my being gay. I had to get to a place where I realized God is 100% good with me before I could be good with me...does that make sense?
