EBF transition to cereal and food?

My babe was born on July 13th and has been EBF. The doc said we can start rice cereal anywhere between 4-6 months but haven’t started yet. 
I’m curious how you moms start implementing cereal. Do you pump during the cereal feedings? How often do you feed with cereal?  
I feel like we’ve finally gotten a schedule down pat and now it has to change 😟

The cereal doesn't replace a feeding. It's in addition to your breast feeding. The cereal is mixed with your breastmilk and is very watered down texture at 1st I think it's only going to amount to about an ounce. It doesn't provide much if any nutritian it's just to practice eating basically. Try it earlier in the day so if there are any reactions or adverse affects (gas) you have time to deal with it before bedtime.

From what I’ve heard and read, it’s suggested to offer the bottle first and food second. That way they get all their nutrients, but can try some foods!

I’m EBF my little one. She doesn’t take a bottle, never has. We’ve tried so many brands. We started her on rice cereal at 4.5 months per her pediatricians recommendation and she loves it.  I mix it with warm breast milk. We also try a new 1st food every four days. So far she’s had apples, bananas, sweet peas, butternut squash and peaches. She loves them all. She can sit on her own so she was all good to start trying solids at 5 months. I believe she will be straight into sippy cups and will never take a bottle. I’m a sahm so I’m okay with that.

I don't breast feed but my Dr said at this age (4-6 months) that cereal or baby food should not replace a feeding. So I feed my daughter a little then give her her bottle. She's 5 months and we are doing baby food just for fun right now. So we only give her about a table spoon at breakfast and then again at dinner.
