Can you get your money back if you return something that doesn’t fit?

I bought my boyfriend a coat for Christmas but it didn’t fit him. Can you return something and get your money back just because it didn’t fit or does it have to be something wrong with it in order to get your money back?

Some places wont give your money back without the receipt, but they'll probably let you exchange it for the right size or for something else.
I bought my husband shoes for Valentines Day this past year and I didnt get him a wide so they didnt fit, I didnt have my receipt so I didnt know if they would let me take them back or not.
They let me exchange them for the right size, since I didnt have my receipt I couldnt get my money back. Good luck 😊

Online - yes. In store - what someone said just now. They're not legally obliged to but they often will if you have receipt or proof of purchase. In both cases it must be in original condition, as it came when bought. Online is usually within 14 days w/ t+c (usually not underwear etc even if not tried on or tried on over something else)

Read the return policy for the store. Generally if you have the receipt and it’s within the purchase time frame (which is extended during the holidays - usually) you can get your money back in full based on how you paid. If it’s past the refund date, you’d get a store credit and may only get it for what it’s currently selling for. If you don’t have a receipt, you’ll get the value for it’s current price on a gift card most likely.
