Mucus Plug vs Thick Discharge

How can you tell the difference? I’m a second time mom. I never lost my mucus plug with baby #1 that I know of? I was induced at 37 weeks. I remember having clumps of what I thought was discharge in the toilet throughout my first pregnancy, and it’s the same this time, just a whole lot more. Help!
