I said yes!!!

Though it happened roughly 12 hours ago, I’m laying in bed at 4AM just thinking about it. It was beyond perfect and beyond any expectation I ever had before.

So a little back story...

My fiancé and I started dating in December of last year. We had known each other in high school, but advances weren’t made due to past relationships. Anyways, he joined the Marine Corps straight from high school and hasn’t lived home in about 3 years. When we started dating, it was obvious we were going to get married. We couldn’t stand being away from each other. Distance is so tedious. But he was so worth it.

This christmas he was unable to take a full week of leave due to the sexual assault courses he had to take since he’s in a new unit. So they’re allowing him to take the two 4 day weekends to come home to family. Which meant he had to leave Christmas Day to be back to work on the 26th. And since he was driving back to New York from North Carolina on the 28th, I decided to drive with him to make the drives a bit easier.

So the first day here was basically spent sleeping whilst he was at work. I wasn’t feeling too good so I needed all the sleep I could get. He called me when they let him out early and told me he was taking me to the beach since he hadn’t done that the past 5 times I was down here.

He took me at golden hour and let me tell you, despite it being a bit chilly, it was absolutely beautiful.

There were only a few other people on the beach as it was a bit cold. We decided to start heading back because I was shivering and my hands were about to fall off. As we were walking, he looks behind us to the sun and asks, “where did those people go?” I turned and looked, pointed to where they were, and when I looked back to him, he was down on one knee with the ring in his hand.

Not gonna lie... I started crying.

I obviously said yes, we hugged and kissed a lot and I’m still over the moon right now. I can’t believe I get to marry my best friend. 🥰❤️
