Continue IUI or not?

Question

Had our first IUI this month and unfortunately it failed. We are now trying to decide if we want to do another IUI or just move onto IVF. Has anyone had success on their 2nd or 3rd IUI? Would appreciate any and all stories and advice!

We had success on our 3rd IUI. I’m almost 20 weeks. We were just about to sign the paperwork for IVF too!

We did 5 IUI with the last one being back to back so technically there was 6. Got pregnant! Doctors wanted us to do IVF after three attempts but we weren't ready to take that next step just yet. Good luck!

Thanks Lauren for your question and I’m also on the same boat. My first IUI failed n AF showed up. Now I’m thinking should I take one month break before IUI#2 or just go ahead for #2.

IUI #1 worked for me but resulted in a chemical. Just found out on Christmas Eve that IUI #2 worked also! I’m 4w5d! IUI can work!!!

My clinic also said they have best results in 2-5 cycles of IUI. First time successes are rare

After lots of disappointment and losing almost all hope, our 4th iui was successful and we’re expecting twins. We were skeptical to keep going, but my RE said many people have success on the 4th, 5th, 6th attempt or more. 3 is too early to give up. With a 10-15% success rate, you can’t always expect to have success in the first 3 attempts, if you understand how probability works. If you don’t have the patience or will to keep trying, then iui is not the best procedure for you. Ivf will give you a baby a lot faster, but it will certainly cost you.
