Got my period 5 days late....

My husband and I have been TTC baby #1 for about 4 months now. My period is never late and my boobs are always sore before i start my period. I started feeling a little nauseous and heartburn on and off, but my boobs didn't hurt at all. I swore I was pregnant so i took 2 test and got BFN...AF showed up 5 days late... I have pretty bad cramps and my flow is pretty heavy with some clots... could I have had a miscarriage? Can anyone give any insight?
