Baby won't breastfeed since solids
Hi everyone!
I exclusively breastfed since birth. Then a bit before he turned 6 months, i started my little boy on solids (he's a fast growing and very tall baby, so he really seemed hungry before 6 months).
We started with lunch... first just pureed vegetables, now we're up to a meal consisting of mostly vegetables (around 50g), potatoes (for the calories, around 30g) and some meat (chicken and turkey so far, around 20-30g). He will eat somewhere between 100g and 70g of this puree, depending on the day and on the vegetables included 😊.
Then we introduced dinner, about 3 weeks later. He gets wheat cereal (around 20g) with banana (also 20g) and formula for +6m (around 60g).
So now he's eating lunch and dinner, both around 100g. Sometimes in the afternoon, he will get steamed carrots or steamed broccoli or steamed cauliflower, not pureed, just a whole steamed carrot in his hand. This is not for the calories, and he doesn't eat that much, its mostly so he can learn to feed himself and get used to different textures.
But I've noticed he doesn't want to breastfeed so much anymore. He used to breastfeed 7-8 times per day (this is including two to three feedings at night). Now it's more like 4-5 feedings.
He is gaining weight just fine, staying on his curve, but i'm still worried as the drop in feedings came very instantly... Plus sometimes (especially at night) he will take the breast, suck three times and then unlatch and start wailing. I'm unsure if he's thirsty or hungry but unsatisfied with milk or whatever. Maybe i'm overthinking 😁
So can you please just weigh in with how much solids do your babies eat and how many times they still breastfeed?
Can be in non metric units, I don't mind, will recalculate myself 😊
Thanks for your help.
PS - added a Christmas picture for attention grab 😊
