How can I stop breastfeeding?

My 20 month old is really into breastfeeding sometimes at night she wakes up like 4 times and if I'm home during the day which I am she will latch like 10 times 😔 I know it's a lot and it's hard because I don't work, I'm with her 24\7 😣 I'm curently 11w 4 d and She has to stop she will cry forever.. She doesn't listen or know what baby in tummy means lol she eats fine and doesn't like milk only mine. 😒 any Tips ideas that helped you guys. Also I know some friends that stopped but now babies use a bottle and I don't want that beacuse it's worse I think. She doesn't like a pacifier.

It’s YOUR body. I breast fed for 18 months with my son. You have to just start saying no to her. Yes she will cry but you can redirect her and teach her to soothe herself. Have your husband put her to bed so you don’t nurse her before. There’s no biological reason for her to night nurse at this point other than habit. Plus she needs good uninterrupted sleep and so do you! She can transition to whatever milk you want her to you just have to keep trying multiple times a day and praise her for trying. Sounds like you need to sleep train too 😬 start with cold turkey on the night feedings because she’s probably not getting much at night and just nursing and then cut one day feeding every 2-3 days. It’s hard but it’s good for you to do it now versus closer to when the baby comes and she gets jealous. You can do it!

My friend had the same issue with her son and one day she said that she ran out of batteries (as if she were a toy) and her son was ok with it. I thought it was funny that she used this tactic but hey if it works, it works... Good Luck

This is not easy. I’ve been in this position twice. I agree with PP, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Not only was my milk totally drying up, but shortly after I got pregnant, I developed a HUGE nursing aversion. I would cringe and almost get angry when they latched. I don’t know how much your daughter is able to understand at this point, but I would just tell her, “mommy doesn’t have any more milk, so we are going to have to go get some water, almond milk, etc.” She will definitely cry and cry, but I would just try to sit with her and acknowledge her feelings. “You really wanted to nurse and it’s so hard to know mommy doesn’t have any milk.” I think they are resilient and probably understand more than we think. It is so hard at first, but if you can power through a week or so, you will be so happy.

Put a black mask over your nipple every time she wants to breastfeed for a whole day. (Don’t let her see you do this) Tell her that the milk went bad and just seeing the black nipple will turn her away. My sister did this with her 18 month old and she only did it once and he never wanted to breastfeed again. She got the idea from a friend. They swear by it.

It’s hard! I’m nursing my daughter once a day/ sometimes once every other day. She can go to sleep without but it takes her longer and she always cries for a bit. She’s 18 months. The way I stopped nursing to sleep was just cold turkey. First night sucked! Then she understood and now she can do it. I actually want to stop completely but if I wait more than a couple days my breasts hurt cause they are so full so I need her to drain until my milk starts to change I guess lol
