I think he's dropping hints?

My step brother has a friend. I've met him a few times. He's very, very cute and I like talking to him a lot. We get along well and we have a similar sense of humor. For God's sake the guy can quote Space Balls word for word. 😂 We don't talk unless he's at the house with my step brother though. Anyway, to get to my point. Tonight he was sitting in the kitchen and I was leaning over the counter across from him so he'd know I was really interested in what he was saying to me (I'm shameless lol). He leans down and calls the dog over. He tells her "Come here. I guess I can give you some attention, since I don't have a girlfriend for it to go towards." Now me, being me, really wanted to have something witty to say to that but I couldn't come up with anything. 😂 Do you think he said that for me? Or to see if I reacted? What are your thoughts? Because I feel like I'm way over analyzing. And if he is dropping hints I'm almost mad at it. For the love of God we're in our 20s, just ask me on a date! 😂
