So my period comes very infrequently, and I’m at the point where it needs to be fairly regular. I’m currently 16 and got my period when I was 12. I went to the obgyn with my mom about 4 months ago, and the gynecologist recommended the pill. My mom wasn’t very enthusiastic about it, but willing. She told me I had to talk to my dad about it.

My dad is a very awkward guy, and gets uncomfortable about this stuff and starts making jokes and not being serious about it to try and ease the tension. So I haven’t been able to build enough confidence to bring it up because I feel like it’ll become a joke or get mocked.

How can I bring this up to him, and make sure he is serious about it?
