Ear infection question

So I went to urgent care the other day and I definitely do have an ear infection. The dr gave me ear drops to take twice a day for a few days. I know they take a while to work..but I just feel like they're literally not doing anything but sitting on top of a barrier. They also put a prescription for a z pack to my pharmacy in case the drops didn't work. My left ear has been completely clogged and I'm wondering if the antibiotics will help to clear my ear out of the infection better, so I can hear again? And if any of you have gotten an ear infection that caused your ear to clog..how long did it take to get your hearing back?
