Elope or wedding?

We want it elope BUT tonight when announcing to his fam, his grandma pulled me aside & said not to elope BC his parents would be upset. We already told his parents we were going to elope. Clearly his mom was upset & told HER mom. I've been married once before & I hated wedding planning. Don't wanna do it again! What do we do??

Elope.  I did it and it was the best thing.  Next week we make 12 years married.

If it weren't for my parents wanting us to have a wedding I would've totally been ok eloping. Instead, we did a small laid-back wedding on a Friday night and it was awesome! It was basically a big party celebrating our love. All this to say, you can have a great wedding without a bunch of fuss.

Agree with maybe thinking about doing a small celebration with only close family there! Parents, siblings, grandparents.. Nothing big or fancy. Small and intimate, makes moms and immediate family feel included :) Maybe in a backyard, on a beach, etc. somewhere casual. No big, wedding dress, maybe just a simple dress you can find at a non bridal shop!  
​I had 16 people at mine (was a 2nd wedding also for me), immediate family and a few close close friends on the beach; it was perfect :)

Well my husband and I secretly eloped and are now planning an actual wedding. I thought eloping would be nice but we really hate that no one was there. I would suggest looking into elopement packages with certain chapels. You can usually have about 20 people for under $1000.

My parents spent $15000+ on my wedding and as beautiful as it was. It was not worth all that money. I wish u would have eloped or had a very small wedding.  6.5 years later I still think about how much money was wasted.

We were planning to elope but at the last minute decided to have our immediate family at the ceremony and had a nice intimate reception with them afterwards. We told them 2 weeks before the actual day. Good luck!  :)

I know it's you and your fiancé big day and ultimately it's both of yours decision but maybe a small wedding would be nice. Minimal planning and everyone will be happy. Sounds like a win/win situation!

Why don't you just do a small wedding at a little church or even just the courthouse (I know the one here has a little outside area they do the marriages at), invite your parents/etc and call it a day.  So it's quick, simple, and they can still be there.
