Pink eye or dryness??

Question

Yesterday I woke up and my left eye was hurting and red. I took my contacts out and put eye drops for redness in them. My left eye was sore all day and watering. This morning I woke up..no gunk, not hurting anymore, and it was never swollen. It doesn't itch, either. It's just red. Should I wait a few days to let it clear up? It's still a little watery but doesn't hurt. I don't wait to pay my copay if it's just allergies/dryness and not an infection.

You might want to discontinue wearing your contact lenses for the next 3 days, in case the redness is due to overwearing/sleeping in your lenses.  If your symptoms worsen or do not improve by 3 days, you should seek help from an eye care provider.

I'm an optometrist.... I would wait a few days before putting your lenses back in.  Use lubricating eye drops often over the next few days..... Allergies and dryness usually occur in both eyes,  not just one so my best guess is some irritation from contact lens wear.  Hope that helps!!
