Can someone share their story or give me tips . I am pregnant I am due on feb 5 and found out I have hsv 1 as well and 2 . How will this affect my baby I am more concerned with hsv 1 .. I am taking medication for the virus when I found out I have hsv 2 . Something called valocyclovir but yeah .

It shouldn’t impact much. As long as you aren’t having at outbreak at the time of delivery, you should be able to deliver vaginally. I think doctors usually prescribe an antiviral around week 36 just to be cautious, but if you are already taking one, then great!

I only have HSV 2 but you would be surprised how many ppl have this and walking around and dont know it. Do you have outbreaks often? The major thing I say is hygiene. Hygiene is such a big deal with either of them. Know your body when you having an out break. I dont have outbreaks any longer but I "shed" and that's when I can give it to my partner or pass it to my child if I give a Vaginal birth. If your feeling any tingling or you are having any doubts you may have one just have a cesarean. It doesnt make you any less of a mother. You always want to protect your child the best you can and if you dont know when your about to have an outbreak just play it safe. My dr looks down there and make sure he doesnt see any sores or shedding as well. Again just listen to your body. My son doesnt have either but I had an emergency csection due to other complications. Side note...our immune system plummets especially during the end of our pregnancy due to the virus so just extra care of yourself. Dont stress. Good luck mama
