Covering ears

Kr

This is probably a silly question, but I thought I’d ask and see what kind of responses I get.

My son is 16 months old. He’s learning all kinds of new things every day and how to communicate and express himself. Here recently he’s started to cover his ears if it gets really loud or if he’s doing something he’s not supposed to be doing he’ll make eye contact, cover them then kind of cower down like he’s hiding (he’s usually smiling while doing this). In my mind it’s normal behavior, but one of my father in laws casually mentioned special needs children he spends time with do this a lot. I passed it off but my husband hasn’t let go of it and is worried. My son doesn’t do it often, maybe a few times a day that I notice.

I’m sure it’s just a phase but I’m hoping some other mommas could share that their kid did the same thing and are fine so I can share with my husband to ease his mind some.
