So I have been friends with this guy since we were little and we’ve stayed pretty good friends since. We have now come to a point where we talk everyday. Well call him Sam.

I recently broke up with my boyfriend and have sort of turned to Sam for support and he’s been amazing about it. One of my girlfriends has recently pitched the idea to me of setting me up with one of her friends. When I told Sam about it, he got a bit defensive about it and pretty much told me that I shouldn’t do it because I deserve better and I’m too good for this guy that he doesn’t even know.

Does anybody know why he would get upset about this? Any guesses or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
