It is and that’s why it’s so hard to quit. 
Think about it, let’s say you cut. I’ve never done it. But there is a reason you do it, whether that be some sort of release or to feel something other than what you’re feeling mentally. I have no idea but it does DO something that causes pleasure and that means that it also releases dopamine in your brain. Dopamine is a substance in your brain and it’s basically the “pleasure” button. We are wired to do things that release dopamines in our brains and sometimes those things are not good for us. 
For example, I used to starve myself and I would get some extreme high over it. That “high” was a dopamine rush. It made me feel in control, it made me feel happier. So I kept doing it and my brain kept releasing that dopamine. You do not have to be physically addicted to something to “be” addicted. You can be addicted to anything. Sex, self harm, art. It’s that we need to find healthy things that help us release that happy chemical.

It becomes reliable and something you can always go back to, so yes, I’d say it is definitely addictive. I’ll admit that I rely on it and would probably say that I’m addicted in a way. Although it is hard to explain too.

Yes it is stupidly  addictive  it releases a chemicals in your brain it is not good for you I was addicted for 11 years

I hit myself in the head during very overwhelming scenarios or anxiety attacks and it feels so comfortable and normal now, I always relapse and instinctively go to do it so i think it definitely is, but of course not for all people.

It is addictive. I have struggled with self harm since i was 9 years old. I haven’t self harmed in about 8 years now but it’s still the first thing i think about when I’m stressed or upset etc. it’s something I have to manage because it never really just disappears. 
Even if an alcoholic hasn’t had a drink in 20 years they are still an alcoholic. 
The same can be said for self injurers, drug addicts, gamblers, etc.
