Period question.

I feel so silly for asking this, I’m in my late 20’s and I have no idea the answer. When do you consider your period to start and end? I had VERY minor spotting, to the point I wouldn’t even need a panty liner, but is that considered my start date? Or is the start date, when you have a full flow? Also, same question for when your period ends, usually I will have a day of spotting(usually happens once in the day), but fairly light, and dark brown. Would this still be considered my period? Trying to be very accurate with tracking but I am confused.
