Is my husband overreacting?

Just to be fair, I do admit my mental health is horrible. I’ve been on medication for anxiety, depression, and OCD since I was 10. I saw a psychologist a few years ago but I’m not sure how much it helped. My mental ailments are so severe that my medication only takes the edge off. It still impacts my life greatly, so I can’t pretend any of this couldn’t have passed onto our kid.

Anyway, our 18 month old has been grinding her teeth, something I’ve always done (and my teeth are a mess partly because of it). We gently bop her on the head when we catch her doing it, but she still does it sometimes.

She has also started picking at her belly button. It gets red and irritated looking, and she always starts doing it again soon after we make her stop.

My husband is taking this as an early sign that she’s got my OCD. I’ve told him toddlers do weird things like this and it isn’t always a sign of anything. She’ll soon tire of it and move onto something else.

He wants to mention it at her next appt with the pediatrician and while I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to ask just to give him some peace of mind, I think he’s worrying about nothing right now.
