Nose piercing question

Hey guys so idk where to post this but I wanted to ask on here before I do anything permanent to my nose piercing 😂 I got my nostril pierced well over a year ago so it’s definitely healed but I haven’t changed it yet. I went to piercing pagoda and got new nose rings so that I could change it. I went to change it but when I took my nose ring out (the one I got it pierced with) the hole in my nose and compared to the ring I had in my nose is so much bigger than the nose rings I bought. So I figured I got the wrong gauge of nose ring or whatever. So I went back to piercing pagoda which is where I got my new nose rings and explained to the lady why I wanted to return them and she said that all nose rings are smaller than the one you get it pierced with originally and that I just need to put one of my new ones in and let it close around it. But idk if this is right and I just wanna make sure THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS
