Measuring behind?

Anyone measuring behind? My last appt my doctor said that by external measurements (I guess measuring from top of my fundus) that Babb boy is two weeks behind. She’s ordering a growth scan this week to be on the safe side but I do have a long torso and it could just be that. Anyhow, I lost a lot of weight in the first trimester and haven’t gained a ton of it back. Feeling nervous, anyone else been told baby is measuring small?!

Hi Julia.  Firstly, using the tape to measure baby is notoriously unreliable. It doesn’t take into consideration your fluid levels, body shape etc etc. My midwife told me that they use it more to check how you’re growing between appointments rather than for an accurate reading of baby’s size. I.e by measuring you at every appointment, they can check your baby is growing consistently and would only get worried if he/she didn’t seem to be getting consistently bigger each time or there was a sudden jump in the measurements. 
However, if the measurement suggests baby is more than 2 weeks either side of the official birth week, they will give you an ultrasound just to make sure. This isn’t anything to worry about - it’s a standard next step just to make sure everything is where it should be. 
I have to have extra growth scans as I have fibroids so using a tape is even less reliable for me as they have to take into consideration a 6cm mass even before the general inaccuracies. My ultrasound showed that Little Madam is on the small side (13th percentile) but that everything else - placenta, organs, amniotic fluid - are perfect and her growth is consistent between scans. It’s probable she is a smaller than average baby. Though I am worried by this, I have been comforted by these two stories from very close friends. Case 1: my friend was told she was having a small baby and had regular two week scans showing this - including in labour - and when baby was born he was 7lbs 13oz (sorry from the UK here) while my other friend was told she was measuring big and then her boy was born - also at 7lbs 13ozs. In other words, even ultrasounds are not completely accurate. 
What I hope I’m getting across - in a ridiculously long winded way - is to try not to worry. See what they find at the scan and hopefully your baby is happy and healthy and looking forward to meeting you soon.

At my 26 week appointment I was measuring behind 3 weeks and they sent me for a ultrasound and the baby was curled up and measuring ahead! Then two weeks after at my 28 week appointment I was measuring a week ahead. I don’t think the fundal height measurement is the most accurate 🙈

At my 26 appointment I measured 26 For my 27+2 check with DAU due to severe pelvic pain and contracting I measured 26.5. 
I was freaked out by this and the response I got was “you are small so we don’t want you to have a big baby...”
My last pregnancy I measured up like I should. My baby came out 7lb 9oz.
Now I am concerned but have an appointment today, so I hope I get some answers.

I’m measuring a week behind too, but I also have a long torso. I have my growth scan in 2 weeks to see where baby boy is at and to check his kidney development
