incompetent cervix and cerclage

i went into preterm labor at 22wks due to IC and prolapsed amniotic sac into the vagina.... and our son was too young too small and wouldnt have survived outside the womb, but had managed to get the cord wrapped around his poor precious little neck and was born sleeping. my husband and i do want to try again and know they can do a cerclage this time to prevent my cervix from opening again. we are really terrified because we know nothing about this stuff and are the only ones amongst our friends who have gone through this. just curious if anyone else out there has been through this and had a successful second pregnancy with a preventative cerclage? what type of stitch did the doc use? did they use anesthia? how far along were you when they did it? did it last until the doc took it out around 36 weeks? did your cervix still start to open? were there any complications? i am really curious and need some knowledge and comfort right now...
