I’m 38+3, and went to L&D for contractions 3-5 mins apart, a couple woke me up in the night and had me crying in pain. One contraction lasted 7 minutes. My stomach was rock hard and I couldn’t move or roll over. That’s the one that really concerned me, because this is my second labor and I never experienced anything that painful with my son’s birth prior to receiving the epidural. Anyways, when I went in the nurse checked me and couldn’t reach my cervix. Idk why, I’ve been checked for 3 weeks and no one else had a problem, I’ve also been 2 cm and 50% effaced for 3 weeks. So she went and got another nurse to try it. It hurt like hell- I was sweating from the pain, and seemed to last an eternity with her digging around. She said I’m 3 cm and still 50% effaced but the weird part is she said she “pulled my cervix forward” and that checks should be easier now.

They sent me home and said come back if I’m crying from contractions or leaking. I had some light bleeding when I got home, I assume from the check.

Does it sound like I got a stretch or sweep? Is there a difference? Don’t they usually ask you before they do that?
