Doctor won’t see me until I’m 11 weeks?!

Hi all! I am currently 5 weeks pregnant. Other than a chemical I had a couple months ago, this is my first pregnancy. I am 4 days late with positive tests. I called my Obgyn today assuming she would schedule an appointment or send me for blood work to confirm. She won’t see me or let me get blood work done until February 7th. Is this normal? I’ll be 11 weeks by then. Thanks!

Actually it is normal, most doctors around here wont see you until 9 or 10, find a different doctor if you'd rather go early

In my experince my family doctor has done my prenatal checks until atleast 10 weeks. Check in with your family doc first if you havent already.

Yeah they can wait to see you up to 12wks. Bloodwork for beta is not a necessity (I had to beg for mine 🙄) my dr wouldnt see me til 7wks but I know its different for everyone. If you’d rather be seen sooner find a new OBGYN office

I went in at 9 weeks because i was high risk. All the doctors i know around me don’t do the first ultrasound until 10-12 weeks because at even 7 weeks the baby can be so small that they can’t see it and the don’t want to worry you. It’s completely normal. Some doctors don’t do conformation and they just do an ultrasound! Every doctor does it different but it’s completely normal. The ONLY reason i got mine at 9 weeks was because i had a pre-existing condition.

Not normal expecially after having complications previously! I would for sure be looking for another doctor . The latest they should be seeing you is 8 weeks but coming from some one considered high risk they typically wanna see you sooner then later if you have had any issues related to pregnancy!

My drs all did bloods and a pap as soon as I got a positive test back.  I’d probably try a different dr.

Even with a prior miscarriage, my OB wouldnt see me until 8 weeks. We went to a regular doctor to confirm our pregnancy. Never did blood work until my 8 week appointment with the OB. They never gave me levels or anything. Just yup you're pregnant, then a dating scan. Its typical around here to not be seen until 8 weeks or later so I didnt bother finding a new one. I just kept testing to put my mind at ease until our scan.

Actually that’s becoming more normal now. I didn’t see my doctor until 12 weeks and had an ultrasound done as well. This is because you can’t see anything in early ultrasounds anyways, and even if, god forbid, something happened to your pregnancy, there’s nothing the doctor can do to stop it from happening.
