When is the right time to take a baby to the beach?

My twin baby boys are 5 months old and I really want to take them to the beach (we live in Australia), I’m a first time mum and I’m not sure when the right and safest time is to take a baby to the beach, I see some newborns at the beach but then I see toddlers at the beach I just don’t know when it’s best to introduce babies to sand. 
Any suggestions?

Aussie here - I say go for it! Take them early morning or later afternoon when the sun isn’t scorching - Bunnings sell cheap sun tents  to keep you cool (around $20 I think). Test some baby sunscreen on them a few times (if you haven’t already) before you go to make sure they don’t react to it. Lots of hydration, get those bonnet hats that can’t blow off, and be prepared they may eat a lot of sand 🤣 depending on where you are there are family-friendlier beaches, just don’t take them to a popular dog or surf beach first up as it may be a little busy and hazardous.

It's whenever you're most comfortable with it. We were living in San Diego, CA when our daughter was born so she was at the beach by 2 weeks old lol

I live next to the beach in nz with my grandparents and mum (long story) so mine will go from birth for short times just like a car ride on beach and on a cloudy day a walk ect

My SIL and BIL have been taking their son since he was about 3.5 months old. I think as long as there is plenty of shade for them and you’re not laying them directly on the sand or letting them eat it, it should be fine. Make sure they’re taking bottles/breast often so they don’t get dehydrated too. I also want to say I’m jealous because it’s currently winter where I’m at ☃️
