I was recently diagnosed with PMDD about 4 months ago and my gynecologist and I both agreed that birth control would be my best option. Plus I've been having rather painful periods so it would help that as well. The first one he prescribed (Daysee) went terribly and almost landed me in a mental hospital so I got off of it. I'm on a new birth control pill now which is helping my periods immensely, but not doing as much for the PMDD as I would have hoped. My mental state isn't any worse than it was before getting on birth control, but I don't really feel it's any better either.

He did say if that was the case, he could write me a prescription for Prozac which I would only take when I felt I needed it. And I've reached a point where I'm seriously considering that option. Has anyone else with PMDD been given Prozac and what were your experiences?
