Stopping progesterone cream??

I’m about 9 weeks and have my first appointment with my OB next week.

A few days ago the progesterone cream I’ve been using for a few months (it’s what I believe helped us conceive after three years) ran out. I refilled my Rx right away, but within a day I started getting this awful itchy, burning red rash on my inner arms where I apply it. It’s gotten worse over the last few days to the point that it looks like welts on my arms. Something must have changed in how the pharmacist makes it.

I called my OB and my doctor’s nurse advised me to stop it immediately, and that they were likely going to ask me to stop at my appointment next week anyway.

Has anyone had any problems stopping progesterone abruptly? My prescription was for a full gram per day. I’ve had no problems with spotting or bleeding or anything, I’m just slightly nervous to stop out of the blue.
