When should i have ultrasounds

my dr is from outside of this country I don't think he knows what he is doing when do ultrasounds happen and how often?

I only had 2 with my first, and will have 3 this time but the extra one was for dating since I didn’t have an LMP to base it off of. 
As you’ve said, you believe it’s more about bonding (which I don’t disagree with), but your doctor is not there to give you bonding time. 🤷‍♀️ Nor is minimal ultrasounds a sign of a bad doctor. I would evaluate your doc on other aspects, and for ultrasounds, maybe book a few (or one, however many extra you are wanting) at a paid location.

It’s different for everybody. Most women get 2-4 throughout their whole pregnancy. I’m a high risk pregnancy so once I hit 16 weeks, I’ll get to see my baby every single week. I’m currently 10 weeks and 2 days and have had 3 ultrasounds so far and next week, I’ll have a fourth.

But if you’re higher risk you usually have more.

Dating scan at 7-10 weeks antomny scan at 18-20 weeks and normally that is it unless Dr wants to check growth at 32-34 weeks.

I had mine at 8weeks for gestation age. 12 weeks for down syndrome/genetic scan, and I have another scheduled for 19-20 weeks for my anatomy scan. (Currently almost 15 weeks) These are all prescribed by my doctor and have been this way with all 3 of my kids. Every doctor/person is different. Some get more scans then others due to personal issues that may be happening. Like a previous person said, you can get private scans done at anytime you please.

It’s about what you want. You can pay for a private ultrasound. HONESTLY- I would not be able to mentally go that long without an ultrasound to know that the baby is okay !

My doctor told me they normally don’t do theirs until 13-14 weeks at the first trimester check up, but I just got mine today at 11w4d due to some unexpected bleeding. Everything turned out fine though!! I’ve seen people on here though that have gotten some at like 6-7 weeks though, so I think it depends on the doctor.

Your healthcare is truly up to you. At minimum, doctors typically recommend an anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks, but technically it’s optional. Often there’s a dating scan in the first trimester, too. I opted out of that one during my first pregnancy and only had one. This time, as long as there are no complications, I will have two.  Getting more ultrasounds than that is not associated with better birth outcomes.
