courthouse wedding?

we have a 2 month old son. we’ve been engaged for about a year and i just don’t want to wait any longer to get married, but people keep telling me i’ll regret it 😔 i was thinking we could make it official now, but have a party and just have a ceremony later down the road?

I say go and do as you please. You’ll never regret marrying someone you love unless they’re a true asshole later, lol. But seriously though, you can do a reception later or maybe your 10 year anniversary do a wedding. Now a days weddings are ridiculously expensive. With a little one now, girl I’d save my money rather than to have to entertain everyone else for one day. Goodluck mama!

I did a courthouse wedding. You can always have a ceremony later on if you want to. Do what your heart tells you to do, if you’re ready to be married then no one else’s opinion matters. The size or style of the wedding isn’t what matters, it’s your love for each other.

Well! Ultimately the decision is yours but I can speak from experience.... we went to the courthouse and got married. My son was 9 days old. I wore a sundress from old navy and we didn’t even take a picture. It was only myself, my two kids, and my husband. I feel like I missed out on a lot. A wedding shower, a wedding dress, wedding pictures, a WEDDING, a reception, people celebrating our marriage, and the list goes on. It’s been 4 1/2 years and we said we would have a wedding in the church and have yet to do that. Christmas morning my mom gave everyone a picture of her and my dad walking down the isle together after they got married to set next to the picture of my grandparents on their wedding day we all have, two beautiful memories. I wish I had a picture to set next to theirs of my husband and I in a wedding equally as beautiful as both of theirs.

My husband and I had a traditional wedding and reception. We were engaged for over 2 years because of wedding planning. It was a lot of work and definitely something we had to budget for...I have no regrets, but I would have been fine with something intimate and non traditional. Like have the immediate family take a weekend trip somewhere and do an intimate ceremony and everyone go to a nice dinner to celebrate afterwards. I would have loved doing that as well. But I think that no matter what you do there is a chance you’ll wish you had gone another direction because my friends/family who’ve gotten married in a courthouse setting wish they had done a traditional wedding and then I have friends/family who went traditional and wish they had just done something smaller. I just wanted to marry my now husband, the ceremony was the only thing that mattered to me.

Big weddings aren’t always better. I had one and there was so much stress I wish we had just went to the courthouse. If you want to just go to the courthouse then do it. Someday if you feel you missed out have I would have a renewing of the vows ceremony.

You can doi it if you want, just don't expect to have a ceremony down the road. If no one is putting in the effort to save money now for a ceremony it definitely won't happen later after kids.

Most people won’t actually have the bigger ceremony and party later on.  It becomes less important.  I suggest doing a very small ceremony followed by dinner at a restaurant.  We did this and have no regrets at all!  We found a tiny chapel, had 9 family members with us, took photos, and all went to eat together afterwards.  We made homemade individual 3 tiered cakes for each guest from a family recipe and brought them to dinner.  All in it cost us under $1,200.00 including my dress, and we don’t feel like we missed out on anything!

Maybe a destination wedding for family and close friends. That way you get a vacation out of it as well and still make it memorable. And it’s cheaper than a traditional wedding! Something small on a beautiful beach and just get to hang out afterwards.
