Babysitter

I’m a babysitter for a very awesome mom and her four kids! The three year old tends to act out often and she is sometimes even violent towards me or the younger baby. Is it my place to put her in a timeout, even if the mom hasn’t told me that I can? I’m not sure if I should be disciplining someone else’s kid. Also any tips on how to stop her behavior before it starts to get worse?
