No more period?

I just started taking the pill this month, the doctor said if I didn't want to have a period at all I just skip the Placebo week. Does she mean continue taking pills for the week following the Placebo week? 
Has anyone heard of this before?

It means to take an active pill every day. For most pills you take an active pill for 21 days, followed by seven days off.
