Mid cycle bleeding

I know it is normal for some women to experience mid cycle bleeding (ovulation bleeding) and I thought that's what I was going through but now I'm starting to wonder. It is right around my ovulation time and I am spotting (sometimes brown sometimes red) and it's going on 3 days now. I've read that ovulation bleeding is usually brown or pink and only 1-2 days. Has anyone experienced this? Or is it something else? I am ttc. Could this effect my chances? I have never had mid cycle bleeding before and I am 26 with one child.
