Big baby - nearly 9 wks 16.8 lbs!

Sorry for the long post but I am very concerned about the weight gain of my baby boy. He was born with 10.1 lb and 23,23 inch (sorry I am not from the US and hope the converter calculated correctly:)) now he is nearly 9 weeks old and already weighs 16.12 )lbs!

The nurses in the hospital told me that I might not be able to fully nurse and therefore I am supplementing with formula right from the beginning. Since 2 weeks I am mostly just giving him formula (pre formula). My midwife tells me that he was a big boy from the beginning and therefore she isn't concerned with the weight. Also the doctor was not concerned at his last check.

My husband is very tall ( 6.7 feet) and I am not that little myself (5.7 feet).

I was negatively tested for diabetes. So it seems that it is merely genetics... but if he gains more weight that fast I am no longer able to carry him around.

I would be relieved if anyone has had the same experience.
