When to stop tucking your child into bed?

My husband and I have been tucking our son into bed since birth. He is 8 now. I kind of want him to have more independence. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE snuggling him before bed. But some nights I have a million things to do before bed and I wish he could do it himself. 
When it appropriate to stop tucking your child into bed?

Honestly, I would do it until they ask me to stop. They grow so fast and I'd hold on as long as I could.

I am almost 18 years old and wish my parents would tuck me in sometimes. Like peak in on me and say goodnight. My dad normally gives me a hug before they go to bed. I enjoy that hug

Personally, I don't think there is a certain time. I enjoyed having my mom even peek her head in and tell me goodnight I love you each night before bedtime. Even the simple hug before going to sleep. Eventually you child will say ok no more. Love on that child for as long as you can dear! Cause the time they tell you they don't want a hug or don't say goodnight I love you back it'll probably hurt a little bit.. Keep tucking your child in 😉

I'm 27 and my parents STILL tuck me in when I visit them. Haha I say until they tell you NOT to.

I'm 28, but when I'm at my mama's house, she tucks me in. Now that I'm married, it's stopped. Would be awkward for her to tuck "us" in.... bwahahaha.

My children are 11, 9 and twins who are 6. They get themselves ready for bed independently. Then we gather in one of their rooms and snuggle for a couple of chapters of a book, then I kiss and cuddle them all goodnight, they get into their beds, then I turn their lights out.
I really like that half an hour snuggling with them, where we all relax together. Though sometimes I do want to be doing other bits of housework instead - so I know how you feel. 
Sometimes I ask the kids to help me clean up for half an hour before bed in exchange for an extra chapter of their book. We can get quite a lot of stuff done in that time then I feel more able to relax with them.
My opinion is that it's so lovely to keep tucking your kids in at night. It doesn't have to take long! Even just one minute for a kiss and cuddle then "I love you" and lights out. I really believe it helps set your children up to be emotionally healthy and to keep your bond strong. And one minute really isn't long to invest in your child.

I don't tuck him in still, but I turn his light off once he gets situated in bed. My son is 10.

I feel like this is the kind of thing you phase out instead of stopping abruptly.  Ask him how he feels about it, maybe he is ready to get himself in bed and you can just stop in to say good night.

I'm a college student back at home currently and sometimes my mom still comes and tucks me in. Though I do go to bed on my own. Shell still peak in.

You should continue to tuck your kids in until they don't want you to! My kids are 8 and 10 and I go in every night, hug and kiss them and put their blankets on them.  Both of them will get in my bed if they wake up in the middle of the night. I don't mind at all. I mentioned it to my pediatrician once and he said enjoy it while it lasts because they'll not be running down the hall to get in our bed when they're 18!
