Reflux?

Any mommas on here have a baby with bad reflux? I've tried holding him upright for 20-30 mins after eating, eliminating dairy from my diet and it hasn't helped at all! Any other suggestions?

One of my twins has it really bad. Her dr has her on Zantac but it doesn't seem to do much of anything. She will actually have what we call episodes where she arches her back and is essentially choking and not breathing but it's her body's natural reflex to make it so nothing goes down the wrong pipe essentially. We have tried holding her up to eat and half an hour after feedings, she sleeps in an elevated rock n play also nothin seems to help and she's miserable and makes me feel so terrible for her. But a couple weeks ago I started giving them gas drops and I swear o have seen a big difference in her she is sleeping better and also feeling better which puts her in a better mood also. I think it just adds to the Zantac and helps her belly feel better. Unfortunately reflux can cause other issues like for mine she usually has a sore throat from the noises she makes when she's in pain all day everyday, she will cough also because of it and it interrupts her sleep too. I've read a million things about it and it all says "eventually they grow out of it" well that's bull I think lol so you could try the gas drops we also use gripe water when she's really miserable it seems to help some and I would also ask your pediatrician if they can prescribe a medication for your baby. I'm actually calling mine tomorrow to see if they will switch hers to a different kind to try. It's hard to watch so I feel your pain I hope it gets better for you and baby!

Does your LO still sleep flat? We had to buy the rock n play bc it is the only thing that would let me LOs sleep as it is angled. They both have bad reflux and with the bed and the medicine they are on it has helped with the reflux.

How old is your LO? My daughter had the same problem so I add 1 tablespoon of rice cereal or oatmeal and rice to her bottle of my breastmilk when I bottle feed her and it's been helping her. Maybe give that a shot?

My baby had bad reflux for the first few weeks. It was so rough on my little one, he cried so much. After following through with some suggestions the doctor gave us, it did not work. So the doctor said the next step would be to give him formula that had cereal. We now give him enfamil ar and we started seeing a huge difference. He still had reflux but now it's manageable in comparison. However, consult with your doctor if this is an option you'd consider.
