How was breastfeeding after c section?

Will be having first c section on Feb 8th and wanted to know what to expect?

I’ve had 3 c-sections. I found that the football hold worked best for me afterwards. I was successful at breastfeeding all three babies even though it took almost 4 days for my milk to come in with my first two daughters. It only took 2 days for my milk to come in with my son. I highly recommend taking a breastfeeding course and reading up on it. I had no clue what I was doing with my first baby, but now I feel I’m a pro with my third. Also ask to see a lactation nurse when you’re in the hospital. They can be extremely helpful and give some great advice. And remember the first few weeks are going to be difficult, but don’t give up. That’s my birthday 😁 but to me breast feeding was easier to do with a csection than bottle feeding. Cause you’re really sore even with the pain meds & you won’t have to move around as much. Also, i found it more comfortable to sleep in a recliner. Or propped up any kind of way. Your first walk after your csection will be painful but worth it. Not sure how your hospital will do it but mine asked me to walk around strolling baby in the bassinet thing. Overall recovery isn’t that bad. But if you’re walking or moving around a lot your cut may burn/sting a little. Oh, it’ll also hurt when you cough or laugh afterwards. They’ll tell you to hold a pillow on your stomach when doing either. It helps!

My milk took longer to come in with my scheduled csection. But other than that breastfeeding was a breeze. But I have nothing to compare it to. I never had a natural birth.

I’m 3 days postpartum, it’s been pretty okay. The only thing that really sucks is trying to find a comfortable position to feed in. My baby latches a lot better if I’m sitting up so trying to sit up from laying down so often is tiring and sore. I use a boppy pillow as well to lay baby on and that takes a ton of pressure off my incision site and is a lot more comfortable. Good luck!

I had zero issues breastfeeding after the c-section. Circumcision can negatively affect breastfeeding because then the baby is in pain so if you have a boy consider leaving them whole. Their surgery can cause way more issues breastfeeding than the c-section will.
